Internet dating’s the only way I can meet women round here, so I persist with it. Decades pass as I wait to bump into someone through my social life (which is more active, and involves more women, than most people I know).

I know that women do get more bullshit and outright misogyny thrown their way so my sex does have it luckier in that respect.

My brief excursion into online dating had me a bit frazzled - i made one excellent friend (benefits still intact), met several other pleasant gents, and fielded a lot of bullshit messages that made me want to hate all of mankind. Learned that meeting face-to-face early on is perhaps best - and that trusting that instinct that said “nope” was helpful. Too much time spent doing the internet game would have likely left me bitter and crabby… i did try to give it at least 2 dates, though… and always paid my own way!

Brooklyn Blast is made there. Many appreciative comments about it on the most educated beer-lovers’ site. I am slowly coming round to an idea that would have been laughable a few years ago – that Americans can actually make really good beer.

Could you tell me – does the phrase “Brooklyn Blast” have any local connotation or special meaning that might be lost on an Englishman?

The dating thing’s a bummer sometimes. Irish Girl did make a very good point during the evening – that dating matches people on interests, whereas sometimes the most successful relationships develop against what the dating site casts as incompatibility. Still wish she’d given it a bit more time though. She wouldn’t have been short of… physical attention.

I hate to sound like a knob but is Brooklyn Blast actually from Brooklyn or did they just appropriate the name?
