Ah! it’s good to have you back my friend and a handwritten letter no less, one that with my glasses on i can read, lol! good to see you having a lovely holiday… and why is it that i worry about you when you don’t post? i truly am the world’s hairiest soccer mom…

i should add that if the lounge goes dark it will be due to my rantings and ravings at various sites and that once they are done rounding up all the POC here in Dumbfuckistan i’m sure they’ll be searching for “dissidents” like myself… and the good parts of the holiday will be posted soon on the lounge ;)

though i wonder if you couldn’t sue the transport that fails for something or other, here in Dmbfckstan you can sue for all sorts of compensation… or at least you used to be able to, now i believe one must be orange to do such things :(

Well the military and the police must be laughing all the way to the bank. It really does look more like pre-war Germany every day. I’ll be your alibi, I’ll say we were down some den of ill repute at the time you were alleged to have done whatever.

Looking forward to hearing more about your time on the Keys. No alligators at least! All the best.

Hey - thank you for writing a personal letter ! It’s ages since I received a handwritten letter.

Sorry to hear that your train travelling is over. (I have the feeling that my time of brumm-brumm runs out too.)

Did you see the stones at Carnac ? I always wanted to go there, I can not imagine how that looks / feels. But the local facility looks well !

Hi Mr M

Yes, I’ve walked though some of the stones – the scale of it is incredible. You could walk for a day and not get to the end of them. They’re not aligned with any astronomical purpose, and it must have been the work of centuries, and it’s still a mystery as to why they were made. Very impressive – it makes you really realise that the past keeps something to itself.

Happy driving. I hope you’ve got through the thunderstorms without mishap.

WLTM literate woman, 40-65. Must have nice tits, a PhD, and an mdma factory in the shed, although the first on its own will do in the short term.

There are plenty of bastards who drink moderately. Of course, I don't consider them to be people. They are not our comrades.

The more democratised art becomes, the more we recognise in it our own mediocrity.

Tell me, why is it that even when we are enjoying music, for instance, or a beautiful evening, or a conversation in agreeable company, it all seems no more than a hint of some infinite felicity existing apart somewhere, rather than actual happiness – such, I mean, as we ourselves can really possess?
Turgenev, Fathers and Sons

I hate the iPod; I hate the idea that music is such a personal thing that you can just stick some earplugs in your ears and have an experience with music. Music is a social phenomenon.
Jeremy Wagner

La vie poetique has its pleasures, and readings--ideally a long way from home--are one of them. I can pretend to be George Szirtes.
George Szirtes

Using words well is a social virtue. Use 'fortuitous' once more to mean 'fortunate' and you move an English word another step towards the dustbin. If your mistake took hold, no-one who valued clarity would be able to use the word again.
John Whale

One good thing about being a Marxist is that you don't have to pretend to like work.
